The Super Falconets of Nigeria have lost the Under 20 Women’s World Cup to Germany. An extra-time winner by Lena Petermann was enough to deny them the FIFA U20 Women World Cup trophy which took place in Montreal’s Olympic Stadium in Canada as they were beaten 1-0.
This is the second time in three editions that the Falconets have lost out on the trophy. Four years ago, they also lost 2-0 in a finals against the Germans.Incidentally, it was Germany that also won the Senior men’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil just recently.
However, Falconets forward, Asisat Oshoala, was voted the Most Valuable player at the 2014 FIFA U-20 World Cup. She won the Golden Ball award as the best player and Golden Boot after scoring seven goals.
